If you have been struggling with diaper rash, I am sure you have been through your fair share of the creams and balms.
The problem with over the counter creams is even the organic ones still contain preservatives. These chemicals may be irritating your baby’s skin and delaying the healing process.
That’s why I love making homemade diaper rash cream.
I know that my homemade diaper rash cream contains only clean ingredients derived from edible food. Homemade diaper rash cream promotes healing to baby skin because it’s nutrient rich.
It is also very economical to make your own diaper cream. You buy all the ingredients once which will make many batches of homemade diaper rash ointment.

Homemade Diaper Rash Cream
The beauty of the homemade diaper rash cream recipe is it takes about 5 minutes to make. Once you get all the ingredients together, it is easy and quick to whip some up when you get low.
You will need a heat resistant glass bowl and a pot of boiling water to make a double boiler.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbs of beeswax (buy on Amazon)
- 1 Tbs aloe vera gel (buy on Amazon)
- 4 Tbs olive oil
- 2 Tbs sweet almond oil (buy on Amazon)
- 15 drops of Lavender essential oil (buy on Amazon)
- 15 drops of Cedarwood essential oil (buy on Amazon)
Method
Add 2 inches of water to a pot and bring to boil. Add 1 tbs of beeswax and 4 tbs of olive oil to heat safe pyrex bowl and place over the boiling water. Turn down burner to medium low. Stir constantly until oil and beeswax are thoroughly combined.
Remove from heat and add 2 tbs of sweet almond oil and 1 tbs of aloe vera. Stir until combined. The aloe vera will have a bubbly look to it. Then add 15 drops of each essential oil and stir to combine. Immediately pour into a 4 oz mason jar. Allow to cool and then close tightly with a plastic lid.
This recipe makes enough to fill one 4 oz jar. If you wanted to make enough for 2 jars, then double everything in the recipe and you will have enough for multiple diaper changing areas.
I hope you love this diaper cream as much as we do! Making homemade products for your family can be very satisfying.
