Our family absolutely loves 4th of July. We are a military family and as patriotic as they come. Each year we celebrate 4th of July with fireworks, festivities, and this red, white, and blue popsicle recipe.
For the past few years we’ve hosted a backyard barbecue for some of our fellow servicemen and families.
If you have any experience with military families, you know there will be lots of kids around. We just love to make some babies!
I love making red, white, and blue popsicles because they are festive and fun for the kids, but also healthy and free from chemical dyes.
I mean, why add toxic food coloring to 4th of July popsicles when we have real food with a rainbow of colors?

Red White and Blue Popsicle Recipe
In my humble opinion, childhood should be filled with God’s light. One of the greatest joys of my life has been to watch my son get excited over the simplest things.
We adult’s go to great measures to find happiness don’t we? We go to therapy, spend gobs of money traveling to the Bahamas, and are often still looking for answers to fill the void.
Not kids.
All a child needs to be happy is a colorful balloon, some attention from her parents, or a fun snack like a popsicle.
The best part of this festive popsicle is the simplicity of the ingredients.
There is in fact, only three ingredients to make a delicious, hydrating, festive popsicle.
In addition to these simple, clean ingredients you will need a popsicle tray, popsicle sticks, and a high quality blender.
We love our Vitamix blender because it pulverizes fruits and veggies to be so smooth and creamy! If you don’t have one, this is a great investment for a healthy family and I highly recommend it.
💙 To make the first layer of popsicles, place 1/2 cup of blueberries and 1/2 cup of coconut water in your blender and mix until smooth. Fill the popsicle mold 1/3 of the way full and place it in the freezer. Leave in until fully frozen.
🖤 After the blue layer is frozen, pour plain coconut water to the 2/3 full line. You will also need to add the popsicle sticks in this step.
🖤 I wedged the popsicle sticks in the frozen blue layer after I poured in the coconut water and then carefully placed the popsicles back in the freezer. Alternatively, you could get a popsicle kit that helps keep the popsicle sticks in the center.
I plan on investing in this popsicle kit in the future because I want to keep experimenting with healthy popsicle recipes.
🖤 Place the popsicles in the freezer for the second layer to freeze.
❤️ The last step for your festive red, white, and blue popsicle is to add 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries with 1/2 cup of coconut water in the blender and mix until smooth.
❤️ Pour this last layer in the mold to fill to the top. Place the popsicles back in the freezer for a few hours until they are fully frozen.
❤️ That’s it! You are ready to present your gorgeous popsicles to your sweet kiddos! If you are serving these at a party, I recommend putting them on ice. They will stay frozen like this for about an hour and then they will start melting.
